'Art Installation Made Effortless'
Our picture hanging service covers Wallingford, Crowmarsh, Cholsey, Benson and the wider OX10 area. We’re a team of gallery-trained installers and curators with a technician based in Oxford, half an hour down the A4074, rated five stars on Google and featured on BBC DIY SOS. From a single canvas above the sofa in a Sinodun Road family home to a 30-piece install across a Castle Street Georgian town house, we bring the same meticulous approach to every job.

Working in Wallingford family homes, Georgian town houses and the Thames villages
Most of Wallingford’s housing sits outside the Saxon ramparts and went up after the war, and that’s where most of our work is: the 1960s and 70s estates off Wantage Road, Sinodun Road and Fir Tree Avenue, the 1930s semis along Reading Road, and the newer developments on the western edge and down towards Winterbrook. Brick and hard plaster in the older houses; blockwork and dot-and-dab plasterboard in the newer ones, which changes the fixing for anything heavy. This is family-home territory, with Wallingford School, the Harwell and Culham campuses and the Paddington line from Cholsey bringing a steady flow of families in, so a lot of our work follows a house move. We hang gallery walls up stairwells, single pieces over mantels and full residential rollouts. A single piece in one room is just as welcome as a whole-house install.
Inside the ramparts is the period layer. Wallingford is a Saxon town on a medieval street plan, and the High Street, Castle Street, St Mary’s Street, Thames Street and the Market Place are Georgian brick fronts on timber frames that go back to the 1500s, with the castle ruins, three medieval churches and the 17th-century Town Hall in the middle. Most of it is listed. The Victorian villas along Reading Road, St John’s Road and Croft Road bring high ceilings and lime plaster, and Agatha Christie’s Winterbrook House at the south end of town is Queen Anne. Timber studs, lath and plaster, brick nogging and painted panelling: we find the frame before drilling, use reversible fixings on soft infill and fit picture hanging systems where listed building consent rules out new holes.
The villages run from the river to the Downs. Crowmarsh, Benson and Shillingford are brick and flint; Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, Blewbury, Ewelme and the Astons are cob and chalk under thatch, soft walls that need long fixings and a light touch; and along the Thames at Moulsford, Goring and Streatley the big riverside houses and converted boathouses have double-height hallways and galleried landings that call for large pieces and heavy mirrors. We’ll always confirm the wall type before drilling, whatever the property.

Would highly recommend Conor from Hang it Services. He did a great job with about 50 pictures and a heavy mirror in my house. He took time to advise me which pictures could stay where they are, which could be rehung or regrouped and the best place for them to go. He then worked quickly and professionally to get everything up by the end of the day. I am very happy with the result!Posted on Google![]()

I had Rowan to hang about 30 pictures both large and small after a redecoration and he’s done a fantastic job and also gave invaluable advice on placement. Some are hung lower than I would have put them or grouped slightly differently but this is where it pays to use an expert rather than getting in a handyman as they look so very good.Posted on Google![]()

James visited for the second time to hang some more pictures. From initial enquiry to carrying out the task is quick. He takes time to explain the options of hanging and also what will look best. He works efficiently and tidily. I would have no hesitation in recommending James for any hanging requirements that you may have.Posted on Google![]()

Picture hanging Wallingford FAQs
Most Wallingford bookings happen within a few days. With a technician based in Oxford, half an hour down the A4074, we can sometimes fit urgent jobs in within 48 hours. Call us, and we’ll give you our up-to-date availability.
Yes. A lot of our Wallingford work is one piece in one room. Photo-First quote system means you’ll know the price before we arrive, so there’s no minimum-spend surprise.
Yes. Most of the town inside the ramparts is listed, and behind the Georgian brick there’s usually a timber frame from the 1500s or 1600s with lath and plaster, brick nogging and painted panelling. We locate the studs first, fix into them where possible, use reversible fixings on soft infill and panelling, and fit picture hanging systems where listed building consent rules out new wall holes.
Chalk cob is soft and crumbly, and a standard plug pulls straight out of it. We use long fixings designed for earth walls, spread the load on anything heavy, and on thatched or listed cottages we usually recommend a picture hanging system that carries the weight along a top rail fixed into sound timber rather than into the wall itself. Flint walls in Crowmarsh and Benson are the opposite problem, hard and uneven, and we carry the fixings for those too.
Yes. Goring, Streatley, Moulsford, South Stoke, North Stoke, Cholsey, Crowmarsh, Benson, Shillingford and Dorchester-on-Thames are all inside our Wallingford coverage. Between them they run from riverside houses and boathouses to thatched cottages and converted barns. Different wall types, same approach: confirm the wall, use the right fixing, leave the room as we found it.
Yes. Public liability up to £5m. Certificate available upon request. Further insurance available for higher-value items.
We price by time for smaller jobs, and by day-rate for larger installations. Written quote available before any work starts. No surprise charges. Drop us a photo and we’ll be happy to help.
