'Art Installation Made Effortless'
Our picture hanging service covers Witney, Cogges, Madley Park, Eynsham and the wider OX28 and OX29 area. We’re a team of gallery-trained installers and curators with technicians based in Oxford, rated five stars on Google and featured on BBC DIY SOS. From a single canvas above the sofa in a Madley Park family home to a 30-piece install across a Church Green Georgian town house, we bring the same meticulous approach to every job.

Working in Witney family homes, Cotswold-stone town houses and the Windrush villages
Witney has roughly tripled in size since the 1960s and nearly all of that growth is family housing, which is where most of our work is: the Smiths Estate and the streets off Curbridge Road and Ducklington Lane from the 60s and 70s, Cogges and Deer Park from the 80s and 90s, Madley Park from the 2000s, and the West Witney developments still going up beyond Curbridge. Brick and hard plaster in the older houses; blockwork and dot-and-dab plasterboard in everything from Cogges onwards, which changes the fixing for anything heavy. This is family-home territory, with Oxford down the A40, Brize Norton and the Hanborough line into Paddington bringing a steady flow of families in, so a lot of our work follows a house move. We hang gallery walls up stairwells, single pieces over mantels and full residential rollouts. A single piece in one room is just as welcome as a whole-house install.
The centre is the period layer, and it’s all Cotswold stone: the Georgian houses around Church Green and Wood Green, the 17th-century Butter Cross and the Blanket Hall on the High Street, the weavers’ cottages of West End and Corn Street, and the old blanket mills along the Windrush, some now apartments, with the Victorian brick terraces of Newland alongside. Most of the centre is listed and inside the conservation area. Downton Abbey filmed at Cogges Manor Farm for a reason. Rubble stone walls two feet thick, lime plaster over irregular stone, timber lintels and the odd stretch of lath: we check what’s behind the surface before drilling, use reversible fixings on soft lime plaster and fit picture hanging systems where listed building consent rules out new holes.
The villages are where the plots grow. Eynsham, Freeland and the Hanboroughs on the Oxford side, Minster Lovell, Crawley, Hailey and Leafield up the Windrush, and Bampton and Standlake to the south are a mix of stone cottages, converted barns and farmhouses, and substantial modern houses with double-height hallways and galleried landings that call for large pieces and heavy mirrors. Carterton adds another large block of family housing next to Brize Norton. We’ll always confirm the wall type before drilling, whatever the property.

Would highly recommend Conor from Hang it Services. He did a great job with about 50 pictures and a heavy mirror in my house. He took time to advise me which pictures could stay where they are, which could be rehung or regrouped and the best place for them to go. He then worked quickly and professionally to get everything up by the end of the day. I am very happy with the result!Posted on Google![]()

I had Rowan to hang about 30 pictures both large and small after a redecoration and he’s done a fantastic job and also gave invaluable advice on placement. Some are hung lower than I would have put them or grouped slightly differently but this is where it pays to use an expert rather than getting in a handyman as they look so very good.Posted on Google![]()

James visited for the second time to hang some more pictures. From initial enquiry to carrying out the task is quick. He takes time to explain the options of hanging and also what will look best. He works efficiently and tidily. I would have no hesitation in recommending James for any hanging requirements that you may have.Posted on Google![]()

Picture hanging Witney FAQs
Most Witney bookings happen within a few days. With technicians based in Oxford, we can sometimes fit urgent jobs in within 48 hours. Call us, and we’ll give you our up-to-date availability.
Yes. A lot of our Witney work is one piece in one room. Photo-First quote system means you’ll know the price before we arrive, so there’s no minimum-spend surprise.
Yes. Rubble stone walls are hard and irregular, with soft lime mortar joints and lime plaster over the top, so where the drill lands matters. We find solid stone rather than a joint, use masonry fixings sized for stone or resin anchors where the rubble is loose, keep fixings reversible in soft lime plaster, and fit picture hanging systems where listed building consent rules out new wall holes.
The houses on Witney’s 1980s-onward estates are mostly plasterboard on blockwork, often dot-and-dab, so there’s a gap behind the board and a standard wall plug won’t hold a heavy mirror. We carry the right cavity and through-fixings for it, check each wall before drilling and use two-person lifts on anything over 25kg.
Yes. Eynsham, Freeland, Long Hanborough, Church Hanborough, North Leigh, Minster Lovell, Hailey, Leafield, Ducklington, Standlake, Bampton and Carterton are all inside our Witney coverage. Between them they run from stone cottages and converted barns to large modern houses. Different wall types, same approach: confirm the wall, use the right fixing, leave the room as we found it.
Yes. Public liability up to £5m. Certificate available upon request. Further insurance available for higher-value items.
We price by time for smaller jobs, and by day-rate for larger installations. Written quote available before any work starts. No surprise charges. Drop us a photo and we’ll be happy to help.
