'Art Installation Made Effortless'
Our picture hanging service covers Oxford, Jericho, Summertown, Headington, East Oxford and the wider OX1 to OX4 area. We’re a team of gallery-trained installers and curators with a technician base here in Oxford, rated five stars on Google and featured on BBC DIY SOS. From a single canvas above the sofa in a Cowley Road terrace to a 40-piece install across a Park Town villa, we bring the same meticulous approach to every job.

Working in Oxford terraced family homes, North Oxford villas and college interiors
Most of Oxford’s housing is Victorian and inter-war, and most of our work here is in it. The terraces off Cowley Road and Iffley Road, Divinity Road, Southfield Road and the streets running down to Iffley village, the 1930s semis of Florence Park, Headington and Marston, and the Victorian terraces of Grandpont, Osney Island and Jericho: solid brick walls with lime or hard plaster in the original rooms, plasterboard in the rear extensions and loft conversions half of them have picked up since. This is family-home territory, and it turns over constantly as academics, hospital staff and professionals move in and out, so a lot of our work follows a house move. We hang gallery walls up narrow terrace stairwells, single pieces over mantels and full residential rollouts. A single piece in one room is just as welcome as a whole-house install.
North Oxford is the period layer. The Victorian villas of Park Town, Norham Manor and the roads between Banbury Road and Woodstock Road were built for college fellows from the 1850s onwards: red and yellow brick, Gothic gables, tall ceilings, deep cornicing and stairwells with three floors of wall to fill. Nearly all of it sits inside a conservation area and a good deal is listed. Summertown to the north is Edwardian and 1930s, more family and more forgiving. Old Headington, Iffley village, Wolvercote and Old Marston add Cotswold-stone cottages with rubble walls, lime plaster and beams. We locate timbers and check for rubble before drilling, use reversible fixings on soft plaster and fit picture hanging systems where listed status rules out new holes.
Out at Boars Hill, Cumnor Hill and along the top of Headington Hill the plots grow: Edwardian and Arts and Crafts houses, substantial 1930s detached homes and modern rebuilds with double-height hallways and galleried landings that call for large pieces and heavy mirrors. Oxford also has a commercial side we’re equipped for: college rooms, common rooms and lodgings, professional offices around St Aldate’s and the Science Park, hotels and galleries, often needing out-of-hours installs. We’ll always confirm the wall type before drilling, whatever the property.

Would highly recommend Conor from Hang it Services. He did a great job with about 50 pictures and a heavy mirror in my house. He took time to advise me which pictures could stay where they are, which could be rehung or regrouped and the best place for them to go. He then worked quickly and professionally to get everything up by the end of the day. I am very happy with the result!Posted on Google![]()

He advised on placement knowledgeably and was meticulous with measurements to ensure that the items were hung where we agreed and perfectly straight. He was professional and friendly. I had Rowan to hang about 30 pictures both large and small after a redecoration and he’s done a fantastic job and also gave invaluable advice on placement. Some are hung lower than I would have put them or grouped slightly differently but this is where it pays to use an expert rather than getting in a handyman as they look so very good.Posted on Google![]()

James visited for the second time to hang some more pictures. From initial enquiry to carrying out the task is quick. He takes time to explain the options of hanging and also what will look best. He works efficiently and tidily. I would have no hesitation in recommending James for any hanging requirements that you may have.Posted on Google![]()

Absolutely loved the experience of having ‘Hang It’ sort all my pictures out. James was brilliant and has such a good eye for what works where . I can’t recommend them enough, from the super friendly and efficient David in the office, to meeting and spending the day with James. Moving house can be so stressful but using such a brilliant company to hang your pictures is definitely a wonderful treat. Picture hanging Oxford FAQs
Most Oxford bookings happen within a few days. For urgent jobs, we can sometimes fit them in within 48 hours. Call us, and we’ll give you our up-to-date availability.
Yes. A lot of our Oxford work is one piece in one room. Photo-First quote system means you’ll know the price before we arrive, so there’s no minimum-spend surprise.
Yes. Park Town, Norham Manor and the Banbury Road villas have lime plaster over brick, deep cornicing and stairwells three floors high, and much of the suburb is listed or inside the conservation area. We fix into sound brick where we can, use reversible fixings on soft plaster, plan stairwell hangs so nothing is drilled twice, and fit picture hanging systems where listed status rules out new wall holes.
The Victorian terraces of East Oxford, Jericho and Grandpont usually have solid brick walls with hard plaster in the original rooms and plasterboard in later extensions and loft conversions. The Headington, Marston and Florence Park semis are similar, with the odd surprise behind a bathroom or kitchen wall. We carry fixings for both and check each wall before drilling, so a heavy piece in a rear extension goes up as securely as one on the original front wall.
Yes. Alongside the residential work we install in college rooms, common rooms and lodgings, professional offices, hotels and galleries across the city. Out-of-hours and term-break installs can be arranged, and the same insurance, method and finish apply whether it’s one piece in a fellow’s study or a full corridor of portraits.
Yes. Public liability up to £5m. Certificate available upon request. Further insurance available for higher-value items.
We price by time for smaller jobs, and by day-rate for larger installations. Written quote available before any work starts. No surprise charges. Drop us a photo and we’ll be happy to help.
